Patent No. Europe 1 198 615 A C.S.I.R.O. has been awarded a patent for a quick-reacting aqueous acidic solution for conversion coating of Al, Mg, Zn and alloys, giving good adhesion and high-quality films. The solution contains a rare component, accelerator(s) as specified, preferably Cu compounds, peroxidic compound and acid(s), with up to 20 mg/L fluoride and phosphate (and chloride) ions and can be stored in stainless steel containers. Application process and coated metals are claimed.
